DRAGONFLY SUMMER 2022

Summer is here and we are ready for our 3 weeks summer vacation with family and friends.

The yard is closed from Friday July 15th until Sunday August 7th. We will be back again on Monday August 8th.

It has for sure been a challenging Spring this year. We are doing our very best to catch up on lost manhours after the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been very challenging. Some of our new yard demonstrator boats had to give space for new clients boats, so that they could be ready in time for delivery. Another challenge is getting materials like engines, electronics, electric systems etc. for our production, which unfortunately does not seem to change any time soon, but we are taking our precautions.

But now on to some of the highlights from the last couple of months.

It has been a great experience to introduce the NEW version of the Dragonfly 40, the Dragonfly 40C Performance. The first two Dragonfly 40's of this version has now been successfully launched.

The first Dragonfly 40C Performance 'Flying Dragon' recently took part in the new 760 nm Garmin Round Denmark Race. 'Flying Dragon' entered the more challenging and longer Offshore course starting in Esbjerg in the North Sea and went around the northern tip of Denmark and into the Baltic to finish the race.
The crew
of 3 onboard included the owner Jens Thuesen, Tor Beltov and myself, the race worked out very well for us.
In the first 24 hours we sailed 284 nm, and after that we more or less ran out of wind and finished as first ship home in 3 days and 20 hours.

This has been a fantastic experience, the boat was stabile and behaved very well. On the GPS we tracked a topspeed of 21.8 knots. This is for sure a great boat for both offshore racing and offshore cruising in the fast lane.

Also worth mentioning is the almost 900 nm Midsummer Sail, starting in Wismar Germany with finishline in the very top of the Baltic Sea.

7 Dragonfly Trimarans participated, from the smaller Dragonfly 25 to the larger Dragonfly 40.
Dragonfly 35 ' Firlefanz' took overall 3rd place and Dragonfly 40 'Rastaban' took overall 4th place. Well done to all Dragonfly owners and crew who finished this challenging race.

You can see some of the highlights from the Garmin Round Denmark Race and some of Rastaban's highlights from the Midsummer Sail in the two videos below.
Coming up soon is the owners event Dragonfly Days, which will take place from August 18th till August 21st 2022.

This is normally an event that takes place every 2 years here in Skærbæk, where Dragonfly owners meet for social races and great fun.
This year we look even more forward to this event, since we due to COVID-19 had to postpone it a year.

Registration for Dragonfly Days 2022 has closed and we expect 40+ Dragonfly Trimarans from all over Europe, together with 130+ owners from all over the world.

Here at the yard in Denmark we are very happy and proud to have so many future Dragonfly owners trust us to build them, their new dream boat. For the Dragonfly 32 this means, that we are now sold out until 2024. We still have a few open building slots for a Dragonfly 25, Dragonfly 28 and Dragonfly 40 with delivery in ultimo 2023.

Our Try before buy concept
featuring our Dragonfly 28 'Tri Me' is fully booked for the season 2022. But we have just received a cancelation for week 37, the reason is that this family has already purchased their own Dragonfly 28. So, if you would like to book 'Tri Me' in week 37 this year or a week in the 2023 season, we recommend to contact us shortly.

These last weeks before our summer holiday, the Dragonfly Team has run a marathon. We have managed the deliveries of client boats despite some bumps on the way with strikes at the ports in Germany. One Dragonfly 28 is now on its way to Canada, another Dragonfly 28 is on its way to Taiwan, a Dragonfly 32 has been delivered to a Danish owner, another Dragonfly 32 has been delivered to its Dutch owner and last but not least have we delivered a Dragonfly 40 in Antibes, France.

Congratulations to all owners with their new Dragonfly.

I and the rest of Team Dragonfly, wishes you all a great summer with lots of great sailing and some good times on the water with family and friends.

Cheers,
Jens Quorning
