Summer Greetings from the Dragonfly Yard
Dear Dragonfly Sailors and Friends,

Summer has finally arrived in Europe, and here at the Dragonfly Yard we are preparing for our annual summer shutdown. It is time to recharge, spend time with our families, and hopefully enjoy a little sailing ourselves.

Over the past winter and spring, many new Dragonflys have been launched, and we have had the pleasure of handing over both new and pre-owned boats to their proud new owners. Seeing the excitement and anticipation on delivery days never gets old. After all, sailing is about making dreams come true, and we are proud to play a small part in that journey. Congratulations to all our new Dragonfly owners – we wish you many unforgettable adventures on the water.

The production of the Dragonfly 36 is now fully up and running, and we have recently launched hull #16. Later this summer, hulls #17 and #18 will follow. The Dragonfly 40 continues its successful journey, with hulls #30 and #31 currently in production.

For our smaller models, production has naturally been influenced by the strong demand for the larger Dragonflys, which have occupied much of our production capacity. However, we have now resumed production of a limited number of Dragonfly 25s and Dragonfly 28s. Before heading into the summer holidays, we are also delighted to deliver Dragonfly 32 hull #96 to her new owners in France.

The yard is operating at full capacity, and to support future growth we have completed several improvements during the past winter and spring. A brand-new and larger rigging workshop has been established, doubling our rigging capacity while also creating valuable additional space in our carpentry shop. These investments will help us continue to improve efficiency and maintain the high level of craftsmanship that Dragonfly owners expect.

Our Service Center has been exceptionally busy this year. Following a major expansion of our indoor winter storage facilities last autumn, we now have capacity for more than 75 boats indoors. This past season, our team handled approximately 70 haul-outs and 70 launches, in addition to commissioning and launching all newly built Dragonflys. A big thank you to our Service Team for their dedication and hard work, and to all our customers who continue to trust us with the maintenance and care of their boats.

This summer also marks an important transition within our administration. Since 1995, my wife Lene has been responsible for our bookkeeping and financial administration. After more than three decades in this role, she has decided to step down from her accounting responsibilities. Fortunately, Lene will continue to be an important part of the Dragonfly family, focusing on HR and work environment matters, as she has done for many years. We are pleased to have found her successor and look forward to introducing our new Financial Administrator after the summer break.
On a more personal note, this year has also brought moments of sadness. In February, my mother, Bit Quorning, one of the founders of our company, passed away unexpectedly.

My mother played a significant role in the development of Quorning Boats and worked full-time in the business until 1995, when Lene took over the administration. The family home close to the yard – where I grew up – became the setting for countless discussions, ideas and decisions that helped shape Dragonfly into what it is today. Many customers, friends and colleagues will also remember Bit's hospitality and wonderful cooking. She is greatly missed by all of us.

Unfortunately, we will also be saying goodbye to two valued colleagues this summer as they retire. Kjeld from our rigging department retires after 18 years with Quorning Boats, and Jens S. Hansen from our carpentry shop retires after 13 years of dedicated service. We thank them both for their loyalty and skill over the years and wish them the very best in their retirement.

I would also like to thank our entire team. Despite a very busy winter and spring, every boat scheduled for delivery has been completed and handed over on time. That is an achievement we are all proud of.

It is no secret that the global market for new yachts remains challenging. Nevertheless, Dragonfly continues to perform strongly, and our order books remain full well into the end of 2027, with some models already extending into spring 2028.

If you are considering a new Dragonfly for 2028, we encourage you to contact us or one of our dealers sooner rather than later. We also continue to see healthy activity in the pre-owned market, so be sure to have a look at the available boats on our website.

Wherever you may be this summer, we wish you fair winds, wonderful sailing experiences, and memorable moments with family and friends on our shared blue planet.

Have a fantastic summer.

Cheers,

Jens Quorning
