Dragonfly Christmas 2023

Dear Dragonfly owners, sailors, and friends,

2023 is coming to an end and it is time for the annual Christmas greeting, but also to reflect and look back at the year that has passed.

In January it was good to be back at the boat show scene. After 2 years away we were happy to open our stand at boot Düsseldorf 2023. But it was also with mixed feelings, as we didn’t know what to expect. Luckily it all went very well, with good sales and visits from both new and old friends.

We have had a very busy year and have welcomed many new colleagues, which means that we have the strongest team ever in our history with 60 dedicated employees.

We have established our own electrical department, to allow us to manufacture all electrical systems onboard the Dragonfly 25, Dragonfly 28, and Dragonfly 32 inhouse. The electrical systems onboard the Dragonfly 40 is still made by a highly qualified subcontractor. With the new inhouse electrical department we have improved the quality and documentation of all Dragonfly models.

Our Service center is busier than ever with Winter storage of more than 50 Dragonfly Trimarans indoor in our 2600 m2 Dragonfly storage, but also with general service and maintenance.

Our Aftersales department is also steadily increasing sales and support. Our dear colleague Jørn Olesen, who has been with us for many years, has now informed that he will retire in spring 2024. As his replacement for this important job, we are very happy to welcome Nina von Bergen, who will be taking over. Nina has previously worked in the Marine industry, and she is also a dedicated sailor herself. We are confident that Nina will do her best to continue the Aftersales service for our Dragonfly clients in the future.

Please make sure to order whatever you need from Aftersales during Winter, to allow us to service you well and in time, as we cannot guarantee deliveries in time during Spring. So, please order what you need as soon as possible – thank you.

Besides Nina we are also very happy to welcome our new Financial Director Michael Nielsen. Michael will make sure to keep us on the right financial track, as the business is growing. Michael has taken over from my wife Lene, who has managed all the bookkeeping since 1996. Lene is now responsible for our HR amongst other tasks.

We have always had more exports within the borders of Europe than outside Europe, but for the first time in our history, exports out of Europe this year is up to 60%.

2023 has also brought us a couple of new Dragonfly dealers.

The first one to welcome to the team is Kevin Wallis from Dragonfly Yachts, who now represents Dragonfly in Australia and New Zealand.

The second one to welcome to the team is George Ertsos from Atalanta Marine, who now represents Dragonfly in Greece and Cyprus.

On the racing scene, Dragonfly Trimarans have always participated in quite a few races. We would like to thank you all for participating and representing Dragonfly.

One race to mention is "Round the Island Race" in the UK, where a Dragonfly 28 Performance sailed by Tim Yetman, Kevin Sproul and Dan Primrose won the Mocra Multihull Class overall and the Mocra Racing Class, but also had the 15´th fastest time out of 1100 yachts – well done.

Another great event is the biggest singlehanded race in the world, Silverrudder. Silverrudder took place in Svenborg, Denmark with 23 multihull entries, where half of the fleet was a Dragonfly. This year we had very low and tricky winds. The two participating Dragonfly 40’s had a close and hart fight most of the way.

On December 6th, 2023 - US Cruising World, announced the winners of the Boat of the Year 2024 award, where the Dragonfly 40 were announced as winner in the Best Performance Trimaran category.

Subsequently, on December 20th, 2023 - US Sailing World, announced the winners of the Boat of the Year 2024 award, where the Dragonfly 40 Ultimate were announced as winner in the Best Trimaran category. The sailing and quality tests for both awards happened during Annapolis Boat Show in October 2023. Thank you for the support from our US team and owner´s. And with this new award it is time to look ahead.

From August 22nd till and including August 24th, 2024, we will once again open the doors here in Denmark for the social owner’s event Dragonfly Days. We expect up to 50 Dragonfly Trimarans and around 150 Dragonfly owners. Remember to sign up for the event, when the registration opens.

Finally, a huge thank you to all Dragonfly owner’s and their crew, who support us and shows their Dragonfly on the waters and roads – you are the best ambassadors, that we can imagine – thank you!

Last but not least, a huge thank you to our own Dragonfly team and staff here at the yard, who has all worked hard to specify, manufacture and deliver 36 new Dragonfly Trimarans this year.
